Madame Jordan's Garden

Oils / acrylics

In the year 2000, I was at a career crossroad. I was searching for an alternative to my profession as a nurse anesthetist. My answer appeared in the form of a gift from my husband. Purchased at a local book fair, a Reader’s Digest Watercolor Set sparked an immediate curiosity and interest in painting. Within weeks, I had enrolled in several watercolor classes and had joined a local artist group. Within a few months, I exhibited and sold my first painting.

A few years later, while taking a composition class, my instructor suggested I try painting with oils. I did, and at that moment I knew I was meant to be an oil painter. I have been fortunate to study with many current master artists: Susan Sarback, Susan Lyon, Ian Roberts, Scott Burdick, Kevin and Wanda Macpherson, Joe Anna Arnett, Mary Minifee, Ken Auster, and CW Mundy.

Whether I am painting in my studio or en plein air, each new painting day brings an inspirational moment, a captivating view, or an atmospheric quality so unique that I must stop, savor, and then attempt to capture that feeling on canvas.

My growth as an artist has evolved into an impressionistic style. My work now reveals an added dimension of texture and a purer, cleaner range of colors.

Indeed, my passion is in the journey of painting. I simply love to paint and challenge my creativity. If my art entertains the viewer, evokes a pleasant memory, or simply brings a smile then my endeavors are truly worthwhile.
